Red Roof President George Limbert is stepping down from his role July 12 to pursue interests outside of the hospitality industry.
Mohamed Thowfeek, board member of Red Roof, will oversee the day-to-day operations as the company begins its executive search, according to a news release.
Limbert has been with the company since 2013 and assumed the role of president in August 2021 after holding an interim capacity since October 2020.
to that, he served as Red Roof's general counsel. He also served on the company's leadership team, which led it through the pandemic.
"On behalf of the board, we thank George for his extensive contributions to Red Roof over the past decade, first as general counsel and most recently as president," Thowfeek said in a statement.
He added that "with support from the leadership team, he has successfully positioned the company for the future. Red Roof is well-positioned for long-term profitable growth."
Thowfeek added that "we have complete confidence in our senior management team, and we are positive that during this transition period, we will continue to deliver the highest quality experiences for both our franchisees and guests as we have historically done.”
In 2021, Thowfeek said in a news release that Limbert was the right leader to take the company forward and lead its "ambitious growth strategy and continue to create value for our franchisees and our guests.
