DC-area office leasing at highest point since 2020, though challenges loom

More than 2 million square feet of office leases closed in January and February

Though the Washington, D.C.-area office market is collectively bracing for the other shoe to drop amid whipsawing federal directives, large job cuts and a plan to slash the U.S. government's real estate holdings, leasing so far in 2025 is as high as it has been since before the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, CoStar data shows.
