This past year was chock full with major events that impacted hotel demand. In 2025, there are fewer marquee events but still some worth keeping an eye on.
Hoteliers can no longer rely on the "Taylor Effect" as Taylor Swift's near two-year run on the road came to an end in December. Like Billy Beane and the "Moneyball" Oakland Athletics, they'll have to try to recreate the magic in the aggregate.
There are a couple of huge concert tours on the docket for 2025, most notably Oasis' reunion tour. There will also be the conclusion of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour and Ed Sheeran's The Mathematics Tour in September.
This year will miss out on a major sporting event, such as the Olympics, hosted this past summer in Paris. Likewise, the Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, will be held in 2026. It'll also be another year until the World Cup takes center stage across the U.S.
Kelsey Fenerty, manager of analytics at STR, said there will be fewer major events in 2025 compared to 2024, but there's still quite a few notable events worth following.

Music of the Spheres World Tour
Tour start: Jan. 9
Tour end: Sept. 8
Takeaway: Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour has been ongoing since 2022, and it will come to an end in 2025. The British band will tour seven countries for a total of 48 shows.
The Mathematics Tour
Tour start: Jan. 24
Tour end: Sept. 7
Takeaway: Ed Sheeran's tour has similarly been ongoing since 2022 and will also come to a close in September 2025. All of Sheeran's 48 shows in 2025 will take place in Asia and Europe.
Super Bowl LIX
Date: Feb. 9
Location: Caesars Superdome in New Orleans
Takeaway: After Las Vegas had its first crack at hosting the Super Bowl, New Orleans will host the NFL championship game for the 11th time in league history. New Orleans most recently hosted the game in 2013.
BAUMA 2025
Dates: April 7-13
Location: Munich
Takeaway: The triennial trade fair for construction machinery will be held at the Messe München in Munich. The five key topics include: climate neutrality, alternative drive concepts, networked construction, sustainable construction and mining challenges.
Expo 2025
Dates: April 13 to Oct. 13
Location: Osaka, Japan
Takeaway: This is the third time Osaka, Japan, will host the World Expo, having hosted in 1970 and 1990. The expo, which usually takes place every five years, was hosted by Dubai in its previous installation from Oct. 2021 to March 2022 after being delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
2025 UEFA Champions League final
Date: May 31
Location: Allianz Arena in Munich
Takeaway: The Union of European Football Associations Champions League final takes place in Munich this May.
Last year, Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in front of 86,212 fans at Wembley Stadium in London.
Oasis Live '25 Tour
Tour start: July 4
Tour end: Nov. 23
Takeaway: The Gallagher brothers are reuniting for a world tour of 41 shows across five continents. HNN's Terence Baker reported in September that Oasis' tour could rival the likes of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in the U.K.
The Open Championship
Dates: July 17-20
Location: Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland
Takeaway: The 153rd Open Championship will take place in Northern Ireland this July. The golf tournament is one of four major PGA tournaments each year.
NFL in Germany
Date: TBD
Location: Olympic Stadium in Berlin
Takeaway: The NFL will play its first ever game in Berlin in 2025 at the Olympic Stadium. Since 2022, the NFL has held games in Munich and Frankfurt, which has been a great boon to hotel demand in the markets.
