Nation's 3rd Largest Drugstore Chain Strikes Deal with Jean Coutu Group Valued at $3.4 Billion

Rite Aid Corp. (NYSE: RAD) announced definitive plans to purchase the U.S. assets of Canadian drug retailer Jean Coutu Group Inc. (TSX: PJC), which include the popular Brooks and Eckerd pharmacy chains. Based on Rite Aid’s prior one-month average closing share price, the transaction would be valued at approximately $3.4 billion.
