LSH Victorious in Football Property Cup
Lambert Smith Hampton, led by captain Joseph Gillespie, beat Colliers in a penalty shoot-out to be crowned champions at this year's Property Cup, the foremost men's football property event. The drama between LSH and the defending champions followed a hard-fought final, which had ended in 0-0 deadlock. CoStar News was media sponsor at the event which took place at Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road Stadium in west London. Property companies and their agents did battle to raise much-needed funds for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
Cushman & Wakefield Appoints Valuation Team Partner
Cushman & Wakefield has hired Gillian Bowman as a partner and head of sustainability in its UK valuation and advisory team. Bowman spent the last eight years at Knight Frank as a partner and ESG lead in its valuation and advisory team, valuing assets in all property sectors and geographies. Prior to this, Bowman held the role of fund manager at Kames Capital, where she was involved in the inception, set-up and running of funds. She will work alongside head of portfolio valuation, David Mills and support Charles Smith, chairman of UK valuation and advisory.
Investec Hires Head of Private Client Lending
Investec, the residential and commercial development and investment finance lender to corporate, institutional and private clients, has named Shivani Goolab its head of private client lending in its real estate team. Having joined Investec’s real estate team in 2015, Goolab has since closed more than £500 million of real estate loans in both the development and investment space across all real estate asset classes. Mark Bladon, head of real estate, said in a statement that the performance of the private client team in the last financial year "was highly impressive."
South East Office Agent Launches Fundraising Drive
Duncan Campbell, the co-founder of leading Thames Valley agent Campbell Gordon, has launched a fundraising drive for pioneering treatment after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer earlier this year. Campbell, 50, has Glioblastoma, often known as GBM - one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer. He says that despite fantastic advances in many other areas of cancer care, there has been little progress in treatments offered to patients facing this diagnosis. His fundraising campaign has two objectives: to raise funds for his treatment and for charities working in this area.
London Alternative Investor Makes Partner Promotion
Mitheridge Capital Management, the London-based alternative investment firm, has promoted Daniel Rastegar to partner, adding to its existing four. Rastegar, who was previously investment director, joined Mitheridge in January 2022 and has led on sourcing and transacting new investment opportunities. He was responsible for the final two transactions in the Mitheridge Opportunity Fund II: Hardness Yard, a £100 million co-living scheme in Loughborough Junction, and a further 339-unit co-living development in Hackney Wick.
West Midlands Consultancy Adds to Retail Agency Team
Burley Browne has added to its retail agency team with the appointment of chartered surveyor Emma Hughes. She will support David Hemming, joint managing director and head of commercial agency and investment, with retail lettings and sales, and advise on investments and acquisitions. Hughes has 10 years’ experience in the commercial property sector, working at Cushman & Wakefield, Savills, Holt Commercial and Sanderson Weatherall. Hemming said: "The skills and expertise she has acquired are transferable and will enable her to provide advice and market knowledge."
Blackstone Appoints Global Head of Insurance
New York-based private equity firm has named Philip Sherrill as its global head of insurance to grow the firm's insurance platform internationally. Sherrill was previously chief strategy officer at Global Atlantic Financial Group for more than a decade, where he led corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other strategic initiatives across business lines. He will work with Gilles Dellaert, the global head of Blackstone Credit and Insurance, who said: "Phil’s experience and expertise will be instrumental in taking our platform’s growth to the next level."
