CBRE has appointed Paul Surgeon as a director in its rating team, joining from Montagu Evans’ Manchester office.

Surgeon, who remains in Manchester, was a founding member of Montagu Evans' team in the city in 2014, where he was asked to grow and develop the northern business.

During his time at the agency, he also formed part of the leadership team for town centres and repurposing department stores, having joined from Lambert Smith Hampton.

CBRE said that Surgeon has been dealing with complex rating issues for 14 years and specialises in providing strategic advice to large owners, developers and occupiers.

He has represented clients in both private and public sectors, advising on major town centre regeneration schemes including Durham, Chester, Bootle and Swindon.

Surgeon also operates across a range of sectors, including specialist areas such as healthcare, where he has valued large purpose-built hospitals for rating purposes.

Nick Marsden, head of the northern rating team, said in a statement: "I am thrilled that we were able to secure Paul’s appointment. He is a very experienced director in rating and brings a huge wealth of knowledge and specific expertise.

"Paul will be an exceptional addition to our team and, with Manchester lead Mark Hayes, will continue to grow our northern business providing exceptional advice to our clients."

Hayes, head of Manchester rating, added: "Having known Paul for more than 10 years, I am delighted to be able to welcome him to the CBRE Manchester rating team. Paul has an excellent reputation within the industry and the expertise that he brings will be a valuable addition to the business."
