Marriott International brand JW Marriott will debut in Greece this summer with the 160-room JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa. In the Cretan destination of Marathi, the hotel will be managed by SWOT Hospitality.
Radisson opens Blu hotel in Guinea
The 282-room Radisson Blu Hotel, Conakry has opened in Conakry, Guinea. In the Kipé district of the Guinean capital, the beachfront hotel joins 13 other Radisson Hotel Group properties in West Africa, in the nations of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
Swiss fund acquires Maldron Glasgow
Swiss Life Asset Managers’ institutional open-ended pan-European fund has acquired the 300-room Maldron Glasgow, which first opened in 2021. Maldron is a brand operated by Ireland’s Dalata Group.
Aimbridge Hospitality's EMEA division adds six UK hotels
White-label hotel-management firm Aimbridge EMEA is assuming operations of six Accor-branded hotels. Owned by ProArk, the hotels have been under Accor flags since 2019 when the French firm invested £15 million into refurbishments. All in the United Kingdom, the hotels are the Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel; Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel; Mercure Birmingham West Hotel; Mercure Telford Centre Hotel; Mercure Cardiff North Hotel, and Harlow Hotel by AccorHotels.
IHG opening Vignette Collection hotel in Jeddah
Owner Al Harithy Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts have signed The Venue, Vignette Collection Jeddah Corniche, Saudi Arabia, a conversion that is due to open by the end of the year with 192 rooms.
Mövenpick opening two Polish hotels
By the end of January, two Mövenpick hotels will have opened in Poland, the 179-room Mövenpick Grand Hotel Wrocław and 126-room Mövenpick Resort & Spa Karpacz, the brand’s first hotels in the country. In the brand’s pipeline in Europe are hotels in Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy and Montenegro.
London & Regional Hotels finances London hotel
Owner London & Regional Hotels has announced it has agreed a multimillion-pound term loan with bank Santander to refurbish its London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch, which, among other work, will increase its room count from the current 240.
Aleph adds scale in Ethiopia
Dubai-based management firm Aleph Hospitality has been given the mandate for four hotels in Ethiopia, one of which is open and three of which are in development. The currently operating hotel is the 152-room Elilly International Hotel in capital Addis Ababa. In the pipeline are a 172-room hotel on the shore of Bishoftu Guda Lake 40 miles southeast of Addis Ababa, and two unnamed hotels due to open in 2026.
Riyadh welcomes new Radisson Blu
Radisson Hotel Group has opened the 310-room Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Center, Riyadh Minhal in the Saudi Arabia capital Riyadh. The opening of the hotel has boosted Radisson’s hotel and room count in the kingdom to 33 hotels.
Ruby Hotels property under development in Budapest
German hotel firm Ruby Hotels and the Balogh Family real estate office plan to open Ruby’s first hotel in Eastern Europe. To occupy part of the Hungarian capital’s Corvin Palace, a former department store that turns 100 next year, the 181-room Ruby Corvin Palace will cover four floors and is due to open in Budapest by the end of 2026.
Rosewood Amsterdam opening June 1
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts plans to open the Rosewood Amsterdam on June 1. In the former Palace of Justice dating to 1665, the property will have 134 rooms and be the hotel firm’s debut in The Netherlands.
Travelodge Bromley opening in London in second quarter
In the second quarter of 2025, Travelodge plans to open the 59-room Travelodge Bromley in Southeast London. It will be the 83rd Travelodge hotel in London’s 32 borough and the City of London.
A&O Brussels Centrum now open
On Jan. 1, A&O Hotels opened the 296-room A&O Brussels Centrum in the former President Brussels Hotel, which it acquired. It is the second A&O hotel in Belgium.
Hyde Park Boutique Hotel sold
The freehold, 42-room Hyde Park Boutique Hotel, in London’s Notting Hill area, has been sold to a private investor for £14 million (€17.1 million).
