Marcus & Millichap has elevated three of its own executives to serve as division managers and take on more leadership responsibilities for the firm's operations in the Eastern part of the country.
The Calabasas, California-based company said it has promoted John Horowitz to Northeast division manager, Brian Hosey to mid-Atlantic division manager and Ryan Nee to Southeast division manager. Marcus & Millichap said Horowitz, Hosey and Nee would provide brokerage support in their respective regions as part of their new roles.
Marcus & Millichap announced the promotions about a week after President and CEO Hessam Nadji spoke of the importance of recruiting and retaining talent and of selecting managers who know the brokerage business.
"That is our No.1 challenge and our No. 1 priority. We have spent so many years continually improving the platform, whether it's our technology investments, whether it's brokerage support, infrastructure efficiency, that we try to bring to our brokers," Nadji said in an interview. "All of our managers were former investment brokers. So they know the business. They know the ups and downs that it takes."
The managers' experience plays a key role in helping Marcus & Millichap brokers grow at the firm, he said.
"Our currency is really a supportive, productivity-oriented environment we try to offer to our own sales force ... and we treat our own sales force like they're clients," Nadji said.
Horowitz, a first vice president who's based in Marcus & Millichap's Brooklyn office, joined the firm in 2006 and most recently served as a district manager. His leadership ability and willingness to mentor the next generation of brokers made Horowitz the right choice to lead the growing Northeast division, said J.D. Parker, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Marcus & Millichap's Eastern division.
Hosey, who's based in the Washington, D.C.-area office in Bethesda, Maryland, started his career at Marcus & Millichap in 2010 in its Manhattan office. A first vice president, he previously served as a district manager.
Nee, who also was promoted to senior vice president in addition to division manager, previously served as a first vice president and district manager. Based in the firm's Fort Lauderdale, Florida, office, he joined Marcus & Millichap in 2007.
