Plans for the redevelopment of the former Northland Village Mall have been in the works for several years. But the mall's owner, Primaris, has recently begun demolition and reconstruction to convert the shuttered mall into an open-air shopping centre with about 400,000 square feet of retail space and services anchored by Walmart, Winners, Best Buy and Good Life, as well as 230 rental residential units. Whole Foods had previously committed to the project but pulled out due to pandemic-related delays.
