CBRE appoints vice chairs in San Francisco Bay area
CBRE has hired Mary Hines and Jennifer Vergara as vice chairs of its life science practice in the San Francisco Bay area. Hines and Vergara, who joined from Newmark, specialize in tenant and landlord representation for companies in the life science industry across the region. They bring more than 45 years of combined experience and have completed more than 12 million square feet of life science deals. They represent a variety of venture-backed startups, large pharmaceutical companies, publicly traded real estate investment trusts and institutional landlords in the life sciences and biotech industries.
Hines is fluent in Mandarin and Vergara in Spanish. They both are multiyear recipients of the CoStar Power Broker award. “They are among the top-performing brokerage teams in the region and are a valuable addition" to CBRE, said Joe Wallace, a CBRE president in Northern California, in a statement.
Berkadia Hotels & Hospitality names managing director
Berkadia Hotels & Hospitality appointed Jennifer Dakin as a managing director in the firm's Chevy Chase, Maryland, office. In her role, she will be responsible for providing creative financing options to commercial real estate owners and developers throughout the United States, focusing on the lodging sector, Berkadia said. She has more than 28 years of commercial banking experience.
Prior to joining Berkadia, Dakin worked in the commercial real estate group at Wells Fargo Bank for 20 years as a relationship manager, team leader and managing director. She will report to Andy Wimsatt, senior managing director and head of Berkadia Hotels & Hospitality. Berkadia Hotels & Hospitality offers advisory services, investment sales, underwriting and loan origination services.
Transwestern adds healthcare executive in Washington, D.C.
Transwestern Real Estate Services has hired Cheri Clarke Doyle as managing director of its healthcare advisory services practice in Washington, D.C. Doyle will use strong relationships with health systems and 20 years of real estate experience in the medical sector to expand the firm’s market presence and assist clients, the company said. Doyle previously was managing director at J.G. Petrucci Co. and senior vice president at Trammel Crow Co. She also served as regional real estate manager and strategic planner at Hammes Co. and a strategic planner and senior living administrator at Inova Health System. During her career, she has overseen more than 3 million square feet of senior housing and healthcare development and investment opportunities throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast. “Cheri deeply understands the healthcare business from the inside out,” said Keith Foery, Transwestern's mid-Atlantic executive managing director, in a statement.
Edge promotes two Dallas brokers to principals
Edge Realty Partners has promoted brokers Ryan Griffin and Andrew Shaw to principals. Griffin represents landlords and tenants in the leasing and sale of freestanding retail buildings and multi-tenant retail centers, according to the Dallas-based company. He has more than two decades of experience advising investors, developers and tenants throughout Texas and neighboring states. In his career, Griffin has negotiated more than 800 lease and sale transactions and managed large real estate investment trust portfolios for Regency Centers and Leon Capital Group.
Shaw primarily focuses on leasing multi-tenant retail centers in Texas and has leased more than 6.5 million square feet throughout the region during his career. He also provides site selection for tenants such as Ace Hardware, Salad and Go and Wingstop. Both Griffin and Shaw are based in Dallas.
Evans Hotels hires general manager
Evans Hotels has appointed Jakub Skyvara as general manager of The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. He replaces Bill Gross, who retired. Skyvara previously was executive assistant manager at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Orange County, California, where he oversaw daily operations and led a large team of associates. He also had leadership roles at Sunset Marquis Hotel & Villas in West Hollywood, California, and at Viceroy Hotels and Resorts in Santa Monica, California. In addition, he held senior food and beverage management positions at Four Seasons properties in Los Angeles, Lanai City, Hawaii, and Prague, as well as in other markets. “Jakub brings a wealth of experience in luxury hospitality leadership from renowned properties across multiple continents,” said Robert Gleason, president and CEO of San Diego-based Evans, in a statement.
