Washington, DC’s Hotel Market Struggles To Gain Momentum

Operating Fundamentals Lag as a Result of Slower-To-Recover Segments

Washington, D.C.’s hotel market recovery has lagged throughout the pandemic compared to other urban markets. According to data from STR, CoStar’s hotel analytics firm, the Washington area was the third-worst performing hotel market across STR’s top 25 markets last year, better than only San Francisco and Minneapolis. Washington’s revenue per available room was down 11% compared to 2019, the year before the public health crisis began.
