Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has appointed a raft of partners as the practice continues its five-year growth strategy and succession planning.

It has named 14 new partners, eight of which are internal promotions. Another four partner appointments follow its acquisition of Whyte & Barrie confirmed earlier this week, while the remaining two come from sister company London-based Shepherd Property Consultancy which is being brought under the control of the surveying practice.

The eight promotions across its residential and commercial operations in Scotland include commercial property management partner Alan Berry and seven residential partners: Kieran Bonner (Stirling); Antony Burns (Glasgow Southside); Angus Carruthers (Montrose); Luke Doyle (Ayr); Michael McDade (Greenock); Steven Mackie (Dunfermline) and Norman Robb (Hamilton).

Shepherd senior partner Ian Fergusson said: "These well-deserved promotions across the various departments highlight the strength and depth of services we can offer across the national branch network and reflect the success of our strategy to train and nurture talent in-house, harnessing the power of the next generation of surveyors as we continue our planned programme of growth and diversification.

"All our newly promoted surveyors richly deserve their step up, and all have been trained in-house, and I look forward to seeing their careers flourish as they develop new skills within their enhanced roles."

The four new partners following the merger with Whyte & Barrie are John Leighton, Alan Crooks, Andrew MacFarlane and Craig Wilson, who will share key responsibility of driving forward the growth and expansion of the merged businesses within the Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire regions.

Fergusson added: "As we merge in Shepherd Property Consultants into Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, we welcome Tom Higgins and Krishan Patel as partners, both share a wealth of experience within commercial property management from their base in London and this forms part of our strategic growth plan for unified services across the UK.

"I’m delighted to announce these promotions based on the strategy I set out when assuming the role of senior partner a year ago as a first stage in an ambitious five-year growth plan."

Shepherd, established in 1880, has 39 offices and more than 250 staff. Its deal with Whyte & Barrie saw the addition of another 25 staff based in offices across Lanark, East Kilbride, Hamilton and Glasgow.
