Suburban shopping center owner and developer Regency Centers formed a partnership with Project Destined to offer training in skills useful in commercial real estate, launching its first group with students from Florida A&M University and the University of Miami.

Project Destined has provided more than 7,000 students from more than 350 colleges and universities with training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and real estate practices, Regency said.

The group participates in a judged live deal pitch competition with students mentored by other organizations that have partnered with Project Destined, said Regency.

“We are passionate about helping improve real estate education," Thomas Bolton, a community impact specialist at Regency, said in a statement.

Within one year of completing the program, some 70% of Project Destined alums "secure a job, whether full-time or internships, in real estate and related sectors," Regency said.
