Property consultancy Bidwells has hired Mark Teasdale as its head of economics and social value to bolster the company’s socio-economic planning team.
Teasdale brings more than 30 years’ experience delivering complex, mixed-use schemes, often subject to environmental impact assessment. He will also be responsible for developing the Bidwells social value strategy.
Bidwells descibes the recruit as having "extensive experience" in assessing socio-economic, housing and health impacts to support major planning applications and Development Consent Orders.
"[He joins] with substantial expertise in teasing out the regeneration rationale for development schemes and identifying and quantifying economic benefits to meet local community needs," the firm added.
Holding a Master’s in Public Affairs and Urban Planning from Princeton University, and a first degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University, Mark has directed major consultancy assignments, staff teams, significant capital projects, multi-agency partnerships and substantial budgets in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Mike Derbyshire, head of planning at Bidwells, said in a statement: "We are delighted to have Mark join our team. He has class-leading experience in carrying out social value evaluations, grounded by a first-class academic background as a trained economist.
"Social impact has become an increasingly important part of the applications we make on behalf of our clients, demonstrating the value to the community the development will bring. We are confident that Mark will be able to add real value to the services we are able to offer our clients."
