Among the biggest single-asset hotel deals in the U.K. in 2022:
- Whitbread PLC invested more than 200 million pounds sterling ($241 million) in the acquisition of a freehold site in London and in construction costs for a Hub by Premier Inn hotel to open in 2027.
- Vertiq Capital Advisors and Hua Kee Group bought the 161-room Bankside Hotel Autograph Collection, London, from Realstar Group and Amerimar Enterprises. Aareal Bank provided financing in the amount of 140 million euros ($145.43 million), which included refinancing capital for the 25hours Paris Terminal Nord.
- Frogmore and C1 Capital acquired the 405-room Hilton London Olympia for 130 million pounds sterling from Malaysian businessman Ong Beng Seng’s firm House Properties.
- Real estate investment trust U.K. Commercial Property REIT and Aberdeen Standard Investments paid 62.7 million pounds sterling to Helios Properties GmbH to acquire a building that will become the 302-room Hyatt Sovereign Square, Leeds, in 2024. The property will be managed by Aimbridge EMEA.
- Dartriver bought a London building for 39.75 million pounds sterling from Whitbread that will become the 180-room Hub by Premier Inn Farringdon, London, in early 2023.
- Swedish hotel owner Pandox acquired the 176-room DoubleTree by Hilton Bath in the spa town of Bath, England, for 40 million pounds sterling from Axiom Hospitality, a controlled affiliate of Starwood Capital Group.
- CDL Hospitality Trusts bought the 189-room Hotel Brooklyn Manchester from RoundApple Hotel Partners for 22.8 million pounds sterling.
- AG Hotels Group acquired the 152-room Clayton Crown Hotel London from Dalata Hotel Group for approximately 21 million pounds sterling.
- Aprirose Real Estate Investment is the new owner of the 199-room Selsdon Park Hotel & Golf Club, Croydon, just outside of London, from De Vere Hotels. The asset will become the debut property for lifestyle brand Birch in 2023.
- CBRE IM bought the in-development 188-room Maldron Hotel Manchester Salford from RJR Securities.
- Caskade Group invested 12.5 million pounds sterling in the 52-room Indigo Birmingham.
