Best Buy, hhgregg and Others Give Needed Jolt to Former Circuit City-Anchored Shopping Centers

Consumer Electronics Retailers Among Tenants Actively Leasing Junior Anchor Spaces in Recession

Throughout this downturn, electronics superstore Best Buy hasn't been the only retailer fighting to gain market share following Circuit City's liquidation of more than 700 stores and Tweeter's bankruptcy and liquidation of about 150 stores. Regional electronics retailers, such as hhgregg, P.C. Richard & Son and Conn's are also gaining footing in the competitive consumer electronics retail market. In fact, all four have stepped in to lease many of the former Circuit City stores -- no doubt a relief to landlords that have been strapped to backfill vacant junior anchor locations.
