Population growth in Madison, Wisconsin, hit multi-decade peak in 2024

Robust international migration drives gains among the strongest in the Midwest

The Madison metropolitan area, home to Wisconsin's capital and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, saw its most substantial nominal population growth since the turn of the century in 2024. The state gained over 9,100 people, according to the most recent population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
