The federal government is stepping up efforts to tear down two historic buildings near the Ludwig Mies van der Rohe-designed Everett M. Dirksen U.S. Courthouse in Chicago, less than three years after a redevelopment plan for the early-1900s structures was halted because of security concerns raised by federal judges.
