Historically, office development in Detroit’s metropolitan area was active in the suburbs of Macomb and Oakland counties, but there has been a seismic shift inward the past three years. While the traditional suburban office markets of Auburn Hills, Birmingham, Warren and Sterling Heights all saw modest construction during the first half of the 2010s, this activity has all but evaporated and reversed itself in the past two years.
