Equity Residential Pays $200M for 679-Unit Apt. Tower in San Diego

Pointe of View Condominiums Sells Vantage Pointe High-Rise

Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR), a Chicago-based real estate investment trust, acquired the 40-story Vantage Pointe tower in San Diego, CA, from Pointe of View Condominiums for $200 million, or about $291 per square foot. The property was approximately 22% occupied at the time of sale. The mixed-use building at 1281 19th Ave. in the Downtown Ret submarket of San Diego was developed as a condominium project and delivered in 2009. It totals 593,461 square feet and is comprised of 679 apartment units and retail space on the first floor. Equity Residential now owns and operates 14 properties totally 4,963 apartment units in the San Diego market. Scott Bales and Herve Vatinel of Atlas IREG represented both sides of the transaction.
