Brandon Isner, the veteran head of retail research at property brokerage CBRE, has joined rival Newmark as its chief of research in that same commercial real estate sector.
Isner, who will be based out of Newmark’s Cleveland office, has experience working with advisers and clients, as well as an educational background in urban studies and urban planning. He joins Newmark as its head of retail research after most recently serving as America's head of retail research for CBRE, working out of Miami, Florida.
Isner worked at CBRE for nearly 12 years, starting in September 2013. He held roles as research analyst, senior research analyst, leader of market research and then America's retail research chief.
“The retail world is always changing and evolving, so being able to add a leading voice like Brandon’s to our team will allow us to be on the cutting edge of where retail is today and where it’s headed,” Conor Lalor, Newmark president of retail capital markets, said Wednesday in a statement. “Brandon has demonstrated that he possesses a viewpoint supported by data as well as a unique understanding of retail leasing. To have those insights is incredibly valuable.”
Newmark also said it had hired Joseph Biasi as head of research for commercial capital markets. Biasi and Isner will work closely with David Bitner, Newmark's executive managing director of global research.
“The additions to our research team will allow us to provide clients with an unprecedented level of market intelligence,” Bitner said in a statement
Biasi, based in Newmark’s Boston office, has experience advising large institutional clients with data-driven insights on the market. He previously led research for the credit risk analytics team at CoStar Group.
Newmark has taken several steps to beef up its research for capital markets and retail. It recently tapped Lalor to build out retail capital markets for North America and Jay Booth to lead its valuation and advisory retail business. It also acquired the retail advisory firm Open Realty in 2022.
