Portland, Oregon’s flourishing regional economy and reputation for a high quality of life have, in the past decade, undergirded strong cyclical apartment rent growth. From January 2010 through July 2019, the average Portland apartment saw a 43% rent increase. At the start of 2010, the average monthly rent was $951 per unit; it is now $1,362 per unit.
