While the number of units under construction in downtown Salt Lake City has steadily declined from the all-time high in 2022, the bulk of the metropolitan area’s pipeline remains in the urban core. At the beginning of 2025, nearly 2,300 apartment units were underway downtown or 40% of the total units under construction. West Salt Lake City is the second-most active area for construction, with roughly 1,300 units, followed by Sugar House, with about 800 units.
