Occupancy To Reach Pre-Pandemic Levels Despite Inventory Growth

San Antonio's hotel pipeline is ramping up after expanding for several years at a slower pace than the national average and its peer markets. An average of about nine hotels and 860 rooms opened annually from 2016 to 2019, adding less than 2% per year to San Antonio’s room inventory. The slow expansion of the room inventory helped San Antonio’s annual occupancy hover around 65% for several years prior to the pandemic, as moderate demand growth kept pace with the moderate supply growth.
