Before Russia invaded and launched a war against Ukraine in February, workers in CBRE's office in Kyiv gathered each Friday to eat pizza together. The war put an end to that tradition, but only temporarily.
On the last Friday of May, CBRE Ukraine employees in the capital city once again got together to share pizza during the tumultuous times they are facing.
"It has now been three months since the start of military invasion of #Ukraine. And it is the first time in these three months that our team was able to get together in the Kyiv office and reinstate what seemed to be such a simple weekly tradition," CBRE Ukraine wrote in a LinkedIn post.
On March 7, Dallas-based CBRE discontinued most of its business in Russia in response to the attack on Ukraine. The world's largest brokerage also said it would continue "to provide physical and direct monetary assistance for employees of CBRE’s affiliate in Ukraine who are in need."
The Ukraine office's prewar custom now seems more precious. "A tradition that we cherish now, as a rare opportunity to get together and feel as if our normal lives are back to where they were," CBRE Ukraine said in the LinkedIn post.
