Orange County’s Unemployment Rate Falls to Lowest Level in 20 Years

Civilian Labor Force Is Still Far Short of Pre-Pandemic Levels

Orange County’s unemployment rate fell to its lowest level this century during May, according to the latest jobs report released by California’s Employment Development Department. The 2.4% unemployment rate is far below the high of 15.5% in May 2020. The local unemployment rate is 100 basis points lower than both California’s and the U.S. average.
