Opposition grows to Florida Senate bill encouraging affordable housing development

Florida’s appeal as a coveted place to live is clear, as evidenced by the roughly 1,000 new residents moving to the state each day. An outsized share of those relocating are settling in the Orlando area, where the population has grown by more than 5% since 2021 alone. Yet those moving to Central Florida are discovering the hard way that the region is far less affordable than it was pre-pandemic.
