VIDEO: Colliers Chief Tony Horrell on Navigating a Market Where 'Angels Fear to Tread'

Interest Rate Uncertainty Means the Market Is Still Cautious But a Flurry of Deals Would Push Momentum

Colliers chief executive UK and Ireland Tony Horrell says the real estate market is one where "angels fear to tread" because people are afraid to make a mistake while there is uncertainty on interest rates.

Colliers will look to make some strategic acquisitions this year, including perhaps some mergers and acquisitions, he told CoStar News at Mipim in Cannes.

Horrell, who has headed the brokerage since 2010, says he is "amazed" how well rental growth has held up and that tenants with strong demand for space have even had to compromise to move.

Check out the video above to hear more of Horrell's thoughts about keeping his teams together, "development being a dirty word" and his desire for a high number of deals to be announced to move the market on.
